Honored as "Girl of the Year" in 2001
My name is Shaquora Broadnax, and I'm 22. I was a member of the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster for 13 years, beginning in 1993.
When I think of the Club, I remember the friends, the activities, the building changes, somewhere I can hang out! The Club Staff were supportive, positive role models.
My favorite memory of activities or events that I participated in at the Club included Dodge Ball, Bowling at the old club, talent shows.
If it wasn’t for the club to push me to pursue a college education and think about my future and to help me become a better person, I would never have gotten to where I am today. I also am so thankful for the scholarships that I was able to receive to help get through school and access to computers at the club and a better understanding about the world as an adult from the staff's life experiences and knowledge. I am now a Sophomore at Millersville University.
The Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster is a place where your kids learn the skills that they need to know to prepare for the outside world: doing laundry, cooking etc., as well as a safe place for your children to play and grow in a positive way!
