Shakeama Smith
My name is Shakeama Smith, and I am 19 years old. I was a member of The Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster for 8 years.
When I think of the Club, I remember Bowling, Game room tournaments, Halloween Party, Arts & Crafts.
The Club was always a positive place to be instead of being on the streets. The staff were positive role models and mentors for me!
What were my favorite memory of activities or events that I participated in at the Club? I remember winning all the tournaments and bowling, that was fun!!
I wouldn't be where I am today if I weren’t a member of the Club, because the club pushed me to have goals. There was no one else besides the club staff to support me in that area. My family wasn’t there and all I depended on was the club. I graduated from McCaskey in 2007, and then attended West Chester University. I attended Harrisburg Area Community College in 2008, and will begin attending Millersville University in 2010.
The Club is a positive place for kids to go to get help with their homework and to have fun and to make new friends in a safe environment!
