Youth Award Gives $5,000 to Charity

Local Teen Hero Ciara Pagan has been selected as a recipient of the Teen Hero Awards presented by Taco Bell Foundation. The award offers $5,000 to a charity of Ciara’s choice, and as a longtime member of the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster, it is most fitting that they have been selected as the recipient. The award was given to teens who have made a positive impact through volunteer work. The following was said about Ciara:
“Ciara has made a positive impact on many different levels and in a variety of ways. She has impacted her school, Club and community. Serving as senior class President (at J.P. McCaskey High School) Ciara raised enough money for her class to have a homecoming parade and prom. Through her hard work and dedication she organized meetings with other officers and committee members and contacted corporate sponsors for donations. She also volunteers at a local elementary school and assists with tutoring those students who need extra help. At the Club, Ciara helps with homework club (Power Hour) and also with serving dinner to the members. She is an active participant in the Take Back Our Streets program where members adopt an area around the Club and clean their immediate neighborhoods. Ciara has accomplished all of this while being a member of the basketball and track & field teams. In track she placed forth in the State meet competing in the triple jump.
She has also earned a full academic scholarship to a four year university.”
Ciara is certainly a wonderful teen and a terrific role model. We thank you for your assistance in honoring her.
